Dr. Julian Burt – Managing Director

Julian manages the overall operations of the company and is the first point of contact for all new enquiries. He has a background in electronic engineering and has been active in the area of microengineering and microfabrication for the past 20 years. Julian has a Ph.D. from Bangor University in the field of bioelectronics and has had a successful research career in the development of Laboratory-on-a-Chip technology. Until 2016 Julian also held a senior lectureship in microengineering at Bangor University where he was also in charge of the university’s MSc course in Nanotechnology and Microfabrication

Dr. Andy Goater – Manufacturing Manager

Andy manages all of the contract manufacturing operations within the LML facility. He has a Ph.D. in the field of bioelectronics from the Bangor University and has worked on a number of post-doctoral research projects specialising in microfabrication using a wide range of techniques. Andy was previously employed as the first Technical Officer of the Institute of Bioelectronic and Molecular Microsystems at Bangor University where he also lectured on the M.Sc. course in Nanotechnology and Microfabrication.

Dr. James Drysdale – Technical Manager

James is responsible for the hardware and software developments for LML’s laser processing tools. He holds a Ph.D. in micro-fabrication from Bangor University where he also held post-doctoral research and product development positions relating to commercial contracts. Prior to joining LML James was a senior research team leader at Greatcell Solar Ltd. responsible for the modelling and testing of PV modules and systems.

Dr. Nadeem Rizvi – Director

Nadeem has been active in the field of lasers and laser applications for over 30 years and has developed numerous industrial laser techniques and applications. He holds a Ph.D. in ultrafast lasers from Imperial College London and has previously held senior positions at Central Laser facility (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory), Institute of Optics (Madrid), Optoelectronics Research Centre (Southampton) and Exitech Ltd. (Oxford).
